Abergavenny, The Brecon Beacons and Hay on Wye

A morning market day visit to Abergavenny, situated approximately 6 miles from the English border and surrounded by hills and mountains, it is known as the ‘Gateway to Wales’. Frome here we have a scenic tour with views of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains as we make our way to Hay-on-Wye, known as the ‘town of books’ due to its numerous second-hand book shops.

D-Day Story, Southport

NEW: The D-Day Museum which originally opened in 1984 reopened as the D-Day Story, following a £5million refurbishment grant, in 2018. It tells the story of Operation Overlord during the Normandy D-Day Landings. The museum offers a moving and informative exhibition featuring interactive displays and artifacts including Landing Craft Tank 7074.

Haddon Hall and Bakewell

NEW: This morning we travel to Bakewell for a market day visit (min 2 hours) then we continue to Haddon Hall for an afternoon visit (min 3 hours). The authentic medieval architecture of Haddon Hall, a 900-year-old country house, has made it popular with film makers with productions including Pride and Prejudice, The Other Boleyn Girl and Mary Queen of Scot being filmed here.

Haddon is considered one of the most important historic houses in the Western World and you can explore its medieval kitchens, the 110ft Long Gallery, Elizabethan Gardens and the wonderful art, tapestries and furniture collections.

Historic House Members get free admission to Haddon Hall, please advise at time of booking for a discount off the advertised price.
